Worship is at the heart of what we do here at First UMC, Blanchard! To quote our United Methodist Book of Worship, “Our worship in both its diversity and its unity is an encounter with the living God through the risen Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.” We gather, in worship each week, to give glory and praise to the only One who is worthy to receive such worship.
First UMC offers a wide selection of services. On Sunday morning, we offer two traditional services with the times being 8:45 and 11:00am. Our traditional services follow the pattern of United Methodist worship for over 200 years. There is a prescribed order which includes prayers, singing, Scripture reading, a sermon, special music and a monthly celebration of Communion.
When Communion is offered, on the first Sunday of each month, we offer an “open communion” table. This means that any and all are welcome to come and partake of the sacrament. We believe that God welcomes all to this gift of celebrating God’s love, so we encourage everyone present to partake.
On the 2nd and 4th Sunday evenings of the month, we offer our CONNECT praise service. It has a more contemparary feel with a praise band and a message that deals with issues that impact your family in today's times. A meal is served @ 5:30 pm (no cost) and the service starts at 6:30 pm with dessert and fellowship after the service.
On the 3rd Sunday evening of the month, our Refuge Youth conduct an "A Night of Worship (A.N.O.W.) service that begins at 6:30 pm.
